  Memories and emotions from the past come together and form the present. Waves of experiences that continuously deliver a new essence and visualization. How the world is seen, but also how the world sees you. Sometimes transparent, sometimes reflective, with tension, closed, but always layered—multiple levels of awareness.
  
  Yoshiko Okada’s artworks are characterized by their emotional depth. Her Japanese background can be clearly seen and felt. Combined with European influences and memories, she is able to evoke tensions and reflections that recur in her works. But the absolute refinement, tranquillity and harmony create a synergy that produces true worldwide recognized masterpieces.
  
  ‘Distance between (II)’ is a kiln cast and made of optical glass. The images on the glass are sandblasted. The yellow-orange pattern gives the image a varied effect and is reminiscent of the rising Japanese sun. Together with the light and the viewing angle, reflections are created in and around the image, which gives a continuously different experience. The edition is 4, of which 1 is an artist’s copy.
• Sobre el artista

  Yoshiko Okada nació en Tokio, Japón, en 1972. De 1990 a 1992 estudió diseño de ropa y kimonos en la universidad técnica de Seitoku en Japón, antes de venir al Reino Unido en 1995. Después de una educación prolongada estudiando grabado y vidrieras, Yoshiko se graduó en tres diseño tridimensional y vidrio del Instituto de Arte y Diseño de Surrey en 2004. Yoshiko trabaja desde su estudio en Londres y trabaja principalmente con vidrio moldeado en horno, utilizando formas simples relacionadas simbólicamente con la pieza, a menudo con pequeños elementos similares a joyas. Su inspiración proviene de su propia experiencia japonesa junto con su experiencia personal de la cultura occidental. Una narrativa personal recorre su obra.

  'Mi trabajo continúa explorando los antecedentes y las experiencias japonesas, y mi situación actual en Inglaterra y Europa. Explora la sinergia y las paradojas que crean estas diferentes influencias cuando se unen en una identidad, un estilo de vida y una conciencia. He estado trabajando con vidrio fundido en horno y me concentro en formas de simplicidad.'
