The Fauve effect of the Brabantpainters comes forward in the impressionistic style of Paerels. The three dimensional illusion is nicely introduced by the new horizon of the porch of the terrace.

Willem Paerels, nacido en Delft (Holanda) 1878 murió en Braine-l'Alleud (Bélgica) 1962. Por nacimiento Willem Paerels tenía la nacionalidad holandesa pero cambió a la nacionalidad belga.
Fue autodidacta. Primero pintó impresionista, luego siguió la corriente fauvista y finalmente estuvo con los pintores expresionistas flamencos. Willem Paerels pintó retratos, figuras, naturalezas muertas y paisajes.
Obras de Willem Paerels en museos de Amberes y Bruselas (Bélgica), el Haags Gemeentemuseum (La Haya) y el Museo Boymans-van Beuningen de Rotterdam.
