The three-volume set of hardcover books includes chapters on earthenware, stoneware and porcelain of the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, works with Western shapes and decoration and armorial Chinese export porcelain.   Maria Antonia Pinto de Matos (siglo XX) es una de las expertas más respetadas del mundo en la exportación de porcelana china de los siglos XVI al XIX y tiene un interés particular en las primeras piezas destinadas al mercado portugués. Actualmente es Directora del Museo Nacional del Azulejo de Lisboa, anteriormente fue Directora del Museo Dr. Anastácio Gonçalves, también en Lisboa, y del Instituto Portugués de Museos Nacionales. Además de comisariar exposiciones tanto en Portugal como en el extranjero, ha escrito varios libros sobre porcelana china de exportación.
