- Sobre la obra de artePortrait of the tulip “La Coquine” [the naughty], copper engraving made by Adam Ludwig Wirsing, for Christoph Jakob Trew's "Hortus Nitidissimis Omnem per Annum Superbiens Floribus Sive Amoenissimorum Florum Imagines" [A year in a brilliant garden of exquisite flowers represented in beautiful pictures.] published in three parts between 1750-1786. With original hand-colouring. Size (print) approx. 44 x 26 cm. Each plate had to picture the flower as beautiful as possible, scientific details were less important. The Hortus Nitidissimis is considered to be one of the most lavishly decorated florilegia. This extensive work is a spectacular display of the most colourful and beautiful flowers that can be grown in European gardens, such as tulips, hyacinths, ranunculus and roses. Price: Euro 1.250,-
- Sobre el artista
Adam Ludwig Wirsing fue un editor, grabador y marchante de arte en Nuremberg especializado en historia natural. Fue un importante grabador de historia natural en el siglo XVIII, grabando planchas para algunas de las obras alemanas de historia natural más lujosas, como "Hortus Nitidissimus" de Trew, "Fungorum..." de Schaeffer, entre muchas otras. Wirsing publicó muchos trabajos importantes sobre ornitología y también fue el autor de probablemente el mejor trabajo sobre mármol.
Estos sorprendentes grabados coloreados a mano de aves pertenecen a una obra muy rara de Adam Ludwig Wirsing titulada "Recueil des Principaux Oiseaux et Nids dOiseaux de Allemagne" (Antología de las principales aves y nidos de Alemania), publicada en Nuremberg en 1777. Ninguna obra con este título francés se puede encontrar en cualquier bibliografía estándar, lo que lo hace extremadamente raro. Wirsing creó estos finos grabados a partir de los de Barbara Dietzsch. Debido a la excelente coloración del color del agua en este trabajo, estas placas han sido reconocidas como las ilustraciones de aves alemanas más bellas del siglo XVIII.
