The arched brass dial is only eight centimeter wide. The silvered and engraved chapter ring has Roman numerals and is signed Rimbault London. The finely pierced and shaped hands are made of blued steel. In the matted centre there is an aperture for date. In the arch there is a subsidiary for strike silent. The chapter ring and subsidiary are surrounded by cast and engraved spandrels.
The Movement
The spring driven double fusee movement has verge escapement and a duration of eight days. It strikes the hours on a bell by means of rack striking. It has pull wind quarter repeating on six bells and a beautifully foliate engraved back plate.
The Case
The ebonized case has an inverted bell top surmounted by a brass handle. It is adorned with fine moldings throughout and has pierced frets to the top corners of the doors. There are glass panels to all sides and the whole is raised on a molded plinth with bracket feet.
