Gallery Exhibitions to Visit in August

Looking for something fun and cultural to do on a rainy summer day? Whilst most galleries are closed during the month of August, these die-hards are happy to provide you with your art fix:


Bernhard Knaus Fine Art
"Petra Wunderlich - Stefan Gritsch"
June 1st – September 2nd

Stefan Gritch (CH) uses acrylic paint to create objects, turning the art of painting into a three-dimensional undertaking. Aside from incorporating an element of space, Gritch also plays into the concept of time by reusing old pieces and building his objects up layer by layer over a lengthy period. Several of the exhibited pieces result from a creative process that took it’s course between 1990 – 2016, challenging the viewers into discovering the meaning of the multiple layers that make up the work.

Fine Art Gallery De Twee Pauwen
"Skin"
July 2nd – September 2nd

For this special summer exhibition, all of the gallery artists were asked to create a piece inspired by “skin”. Following tradition, halfway through the summer the exhibition is expanded with works by recently graduated artists.  Skin forms a boundary between the inside and the outside, it is a protective surface that is also used to express intrinsic qualities and beauty. The structure of skin can be rough, sometimes even raw, or smooth and soft. Through skin contact is made between the world and the self, it is powerful yet vulnerable at the same time. It is not just humans and animals that have a skin; trees, plants and even art objects have a skin too.

"Abstracts"
July 15th – August 26th

This is the second time that Galerie BMB is hosting an exhibition by Dirk den Hartog. The international summer exhibition features works by the Dutch artists Armando and Judith Osborn, as well as Petar Tuskan who was born in former Yugoslavia and the German painter Serge Vallberg. Especially for this occasion, Petar Tuskan has created a limited collector’s edition of his new monograph. The 20 original panels are for sale at the gallery.

Eduard Planting Fine Art Photographs
"Legends Passed"
July 29th – September 30th

This summer gallery exhibition is dedicated to some of the legends that sadly passed away in 2016 and 2017. Great images of Prince, David Bowie, Chuck Berry, Muhammad Ali, Johan Cruijf and Roger Moore (co-signed by him) will be on display at the gallery for the month of August. The photographs were taken by equally legendary photographers: Terry O'Neill, Steve Parke, Gerald Fearnley, Markus Klinko, Justin de Villeneuve and Gijsbert Hanekroot.

Galerie Carla Koch: Exclusive!

Galerie Carla Koch has obtained two exclusive pieces by Koen Vanderstukken from a private collection. Vanderstukken is a Belgian sculptor and glass-artist, and after finishing a degree in industrial chemistry he set up his own studio which ran from 1990 until 2006. His work has been exhibited in major centers around the world, from Amsterdam, Paris, Prague and Venice to New York, Chicago and Montreal. Vanderstukken searches for the intrinsic differences between personal perception and reality, continuously investigating the duality between reality and appearances within his work. Currently on display at the gallery, opening hours are by appointment only.
