Original watercolour drawing of the 17th century manorhouse Groenevecht on the river Vecht.
Signed and dated lower left.

The landscapepainter, etcher and lithorapher P.J. Lutgers (1808-1874) lived most of his life in Loenen aan de Vecht. Over a period of thirty years he made many drawings of the scenery of the river Vecht.
In 1836 he published lithographs of his drawings in a book titled 'Gezichten aan de rivier de Vecht' (Views of the river Vecht). The original print of this book is also for sale at Kunsthandel Pygmalion. This watercolour is a preliminary study of the lithograph of this manorhouse in the book.
Sobre el artista
En 1808 nació Lutgers en Amsterdam. Hijo de Joannes Lutgens y Elizabeth Cornelia van Kampen. Pintó paisajes, paisajes urbanos, fluviales y marinos, pero también retratos. Es conocido por su serie de pinturas de Utrecht y alrededores; especialmente cerca del río Vecht. Además de eso, hizo dibujos de varios otros lugares en los Países Bajos como Almelo, La Haya, Haarlem, Leiden, Rijswijk, Utrecht y Velsen. Publicó sus obras en forma de litografías. Uno de sus alumnos fue Nicolaas Bastert. Murió en Loenen aan de Vecht a los 65 años. Estaba casado con Maria Susanna Moen.
