    Animal tamer training two dogs on a ball

    This beautiful bronze sculpture of a young man training two dogs on a ball is made by the Antwerp sculpture Alphonse van Beurden. He was a pupil of Joseph Geefs and Eduard Dujardin at the Academy of Antwerp. Van Beurden is the designer of the caryatid and allegorical sculptures on the façade of the Museum of Fine Arts in Antwerp.
    In the United Kingdom Van Beurden is famous for his ivory sculptures. He exhibited thirteen times (1887-1904) in the Royal Academy of Art with sixteen images in ivory and marble.

    Alphonse van Beurden fue un escultor belga, nacido en Amberes el 23 de abril de 1854. Murió el 21 de septiembre de 1938. Estudió con Joseph Geefs y Eduard Dujardin en la academia de arte de Amberes. Van Beurden diseñó la cariátide y las esculturas alegóricas de la fachada de el Museo de Bellas Artes de Amberes. En el Reino Unido, es conocido por sus esculturas de marfil. Entre 1887 y 1904 expuso trece veces en la Real Academia de Arte.
