  • Sobre el artista
    Johannes Bosboom nació en La Haya en 1817 y se convirtió en aprendiz del pintor de paisajes urbanos Bart van Hove. Al principio eligió especializarse en interiores de iglesias, alentado en esto por los elogios que recibió de sus contemporáneos. Sus acuarelas y pinturas representan silenciosos interiores de iglesias, poblados por figuras vestidas del siglo XVII. Como artista de la Escuela de La Haya, trató de transmitir las impresiones que tales edificios le dejaron. Al mismo tiempo, se inspiró en la luz y la atmósfera de las obras de los pintores del siglo XVII Rembrandt y Emanuel de Witte.
