  • Sobre la obra de arte

This exceptional bar brooch, crafted in 14K yellow gold with silver details, blends Victorian elegance with mid-20th-century craftsmanship. Its centrepiece is a remarkably large pear-shaped rose-cut diamond, surrounded by thirteen smaller rose-cutdiamonds and senailles, all set on foil to enhance their lustre. The crowned heart motif, a timeless emblem of love and romance, adds symbolic depth to its intricate design. The setting for the central diamond appears to date from the early 19th century, while the brooch as a whole was created post-1952, likely incorporating antique elements. A true testament to enduring beauty and sentimentality.

    Style
Victorian - Victorian decorative arts refers to the style of decorative arts during the Victorian era. The Victorian era is known for its eclectic revival and interpretation of historic styles and the introduction of cross-cultural influences from themiddle east and Asia in furniture, fittings, and Interior decoration. Victorian design is widely viewed as having indulged in a regrettable excess of ornament. The Arts and Crafts movement, the aesthetic movement, Anglo-Japanese style, and Art Nouveaustyle have their beginnings in the late Victorian era.

    Theme
A stylized crowned heart. The heart has long been used as a symbol to refer to the spiritual, emotional, moral, and in the past also intellectual core of a human being. As the heart was once widely believed to be the seat of the human mind, the word heart continues to be usedpoetically to refer to the soul, and stylized depictions of hearts are extremely prevalent symbols representing love. Technique
The rose cuts are set on foil. This is a special technique that was used to bring the lustre of the diamonds to its best quality.

    Extra information
The setting holding the large pear-shaped stone, as well as the stone itself, seem to date from the early 19th century or possibly even earlier. The brooch as a whole, however, was made after 1952, possibly using older components.

    Diamonds
Onelarge pear shaped rose cut diamond and thirteen smaller rose cut diamonds and senailles. A senaille is a simplified rose cut diamond, a small diamond chip with perhaps a few polished facets. We do not have the weight of the rose cuts diamonds nor the senailles which is normal in our trade when it comes to rose cut diamonds and senailles.
