Leendert van der Vlist (1894 -1962) - colorful street scene

Leendert van der Vlist (Numansdorp 1894 - 1962 Voorburg) had everything to become a successful painter. Aanleg, a good teacher in the person of Willem de Zwart, and the happiness that his talent was recognized early. He was awarded a royal subsidy in 1913 and 25 years later, in 1938, he won the 1st prize from the Willink van Collenfonds. Especially in the period 1924-1930, gray tones make way for a clear palette. Leendert van der Vlist liked to work in southern countries. This panel shows how Van der Vlist brought more color into his work. Leendert van der Vlist is counted among the Leiden School. Leendert van der Vlist nació en Numansdorp en 1894, murió en Voorburg en 1962. Vivió y trabajó en Leiden pero también viajó mucho al extranjero. Fue aprendiz de W. van der Nat y más tarde fue alumno de Willem de Zwart. Ganó varios premios y en 1943 fue el ganador de la medalla de oro de la sociedad de arte Arti et Amicitae en Amsterdam.
